Faux Blackboard Signs

Since we are hoping to start farmer's market this Saturday, we are feverishly trying to get everything organized!  I came across a tutorial about little blackboard signs, but I had no special blackboard paint!  So this is my rendition of this tutorial:  Chalkboard Sign

The steps were fairly easy, I used a template to cut out the shape on the cardboard and cut it out.  Then I painted them with black acrylic paint and glued some clothes pins onto the back.  When  the paint was fully dry, I used some white chalk around the edges to make it look like a real chalk board.

I added some buttons for extra cuteness and used a white pencil crayon to write on my text.  They look like real chalk boards, but they are not erasable!

Container Garden

I am a self confessed black thumb in the garden.  But I never really lose hope that whatever I plant will survive...somehow.  So I keep it small and simple.  I know there are lots of ideas for container gardening on the internet.  Here are a few things I learned.  Key words, bush, compact, space saver, will work well for container gardens.  I decided to try tomato, cucumber, green pepper and lettuce with a few marigolds for color.  You can use anything for a container garden just make sure it has drainage.  Use lighter colored containers since dark ones absorb heat.  You will have to water a container garden more often, check daily.  So with all that in place, here I go, hoping for at least a tomato or two!  Happy gardening!
